August 2025 Updates!

Sweet and Spiced Watermelon Pickles

Sweet and Spiced Watermelon Pickles

If you've never had pickled watermelon rind, you have to try it!  My aunt used to make these when I was a kid, and the sweet tangy flavor was addictive.  Also, it's a nice way to use all parts of your produce.  Best of all, this recipe is low carb; it recommends using a "sugar substitute", and for me that will always be organic, natural Stevia.

Here's the link to the recipe:

Your August Challenge: Gut Check!

Sweet and Spiced Watermelon Pickles

Sweet and Spiced Watermelon Pickles

Last month we focused on the inside of your gut (building the diversity of your microbiome).  THIS month we focus on the outside of your gut: your abdominal muscles, and more broadly your core.  Why?  A strong core:

-provides a stable base for all movements

-  improves posture

- reduces back pain

-enhances balance and stability

-contributes to better athletic performance by facilitating power transfer and reducing the risk of injuries

What I like about training abs is that it's the ONE muscle group that you can work out daily and not overtrain.  Try these simple, quick daily exercises in August, paired with the M/W/F core-based workouts I'll be sharing on Facebook.  Take before and after pics...you'll be shocked at the visible definition in your abs!

August is Wellness Month!

"Wellness" is a broad concept, but boiled down, to me it means self-care: physically, emotionally, and mentally.  Go to the link below for 15 ideas to try this month to enhance your self-care.  It sounds silly, but my first act of self-care for August will be a pedicure!  Prioritizing water intake and aiming for 8 hours of sleep a night are additional favs of mine on this list.  Try one habit a week, and habit stack the whole month!

My FAVORITE fast: the 36 hour fat-burner!

Two to three times a week I like to do my favorite all-time fast, the 36 hour fast.  Some people call it "alternate day" fasting, if it's done repeatedly.  Unless your nutrition is on point 100% of the time (and mine isn't), we can all benefit from this beautiful fasting length to assist in autophagy and access those fat stores.  After you've done it a few times, it becomes effortless.  If you've never fasted before, you'll want to start with a basic 16 hour fast, but for anyone past the beginner stage, the 36 hour fast is arguably the most effective and easy fast to do.  Try it out this month!
